What is the Continental Cup?
The International Ski Federation (FIS) sanctions the
international Continental Cup Series, and determines
the schedule and venues. The Continental Cup (COC)
is second only to the World Cup series in prestige,
visibility, and prize money. FIS Cup is the third tier of
international competition.
Pine Mountain has been awarded dates in the
Continental Cup series for many years, and was
awarded World Cup dates in both 1996 and 2000.
It is one of the premier ski jumping venues
in North America, along with the two US Olympic
facilities in Lake Placid and Park City, and Canada’s
two Olympic jumping venues in Calgary and
Vancouver.
The 2012 Continental Cup In Iron Mountain will be
held Feb 11-12. There’s a summer & fall COC series
in Europe; the winter season traditionally begins in
early December.
The date of our 2012 tournament is Feb 11 & 12

Saturday’s crowd was one of the biggest in years. After weeks of frigid winter
temperatures, folks were apparently ready to enjoy themselves on a beautiful,
sunny day ... and our parking lot was filled to overflowing, with cars parked as
far as the eye could see along Pine Mountain Road.
A notable former ski jumper showed up to enjoy the action and visit with
friends from the local area. Steve Mariucci, former chead oach of the San
Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions, now a member of the NFL Network
announcing team, is a native of Iron Mountain, and was a junior jumper before
becoming a star football player at IMHS and Northern Michigan University.
The Kiwanis Ski Club sends a big THANK YOU to our fans, sponsors, FIS, and the
teams and athletes from around the world who make this event possible each
year ... we appreciate your enthusiastic support!
